The Jazz Journalists Association has announced the schedule for its spring 2024 Jazz Heroes and Jazz Awards campaigns.
On April 15, a class of 33 “activists, advocates, altruists, aiders and abettors of jazz” will be celebrated with photos and personality profiles, all featured in a collage suitable for social media dissemination that shows how jazz likes just like America. The JJA’s “Jazz Heroes” live in diverse locales across the U.S., for the first time in Baja, Mexico and in Ottawa, Canada. Heroes will be celebrated with presentation of personalized certificates at in events in their communities, with dates to come.
Finalists for JJA’s 28th annual Jazz Awards, honoring excellence in some 40 categories of music and music journalism, will be posted for publication on April 23, and voting for the 2024 Jazz Awards will commence among active members of the JJA, the organization of authors, writers, photographers, broadcasters, videographers and new media professionals covering jazz and adjacent musics.
Winners of the 2024 JJA Jazz Awards will be announced on May 8. Watch this space!
