Baltimore’s 2021 JJA Jazz Hero Henry Wong is a native of Hong Kong, who has lived in the U.S. since attending high school at St. John’s Preparatory School in Minnesota. He went to Pennsylvania State University as a biology major and worked in a neurology lab at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine until 1990, when his muse led him astray — or so it may have seemed until he launched one of the most robust online responses to COVID-19 lockdowns with concerts webcast under the moniker <em>An die Musik Live</em>.
