The Jazz Journalists Association‘s 2012 Awards Gala event at the New York City Blue Note Jazz Club on June 20, 2012, featured a who’s-who of the jazz as winners of 40 awards for jazz musicianship and journalism were announced and several other awards presented.
Emcee’d by WBGO’s Josh Jackson and Angelika Beaner, honorees who were present to receive their awards included composer/arranger, Maria Schnedier, saxophonist Joe Lovano, writer Larry Blumenfeld, bassist Ben Williams, soprano saxophonist Jane Ira Bloom, trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, and more.
Musical interludes were performed by Pualette McWilliams and Organ Monk,
